ABTR 016 : How to crack the US market and build a $15 million empire with Belinda Coker

Hello from Baden Baden, Germany!Belinda Coker

This episode is killer! I’ve been saving it to wrap up season one of the ABTR podcast. Yep, that’s right, this episode will be the final official episode for 2015, though I may release a special episode from time to time.

The truth is I love doing this show, however I’m struggling to find the time as my other businesses are going through some exciting, and demanding, times. Elevate is in the process of merging with an ASX listed company, and my ecommerce biz with Monika is growing rapidly.

I plan to pick the show back up again next year so I’ll keep you posted. Thank you for your support so far.

OK, on to the show. My guest this episode is entrepreneur Belinda Coker from Envirosax and Bellouco. Belinda started Envirosax with very little money and grew it into a $15 global empire in just a few short years. AMAZING STUFF!!! This alone should inspire you enough to listen to the episode right now!!

ABTR 015 : Leaving Holland To Build Dive Resort In Indonesia with Kim & Bastiaan

Hello from Oslo, Norway! kim and bass live

During the show Kim & Bastiaan share their story of what was involved in packing up their lives in Holland and moving to Asia to set up their business, Scuba Centre Asia.

In most episodes we generally drill down on just one or two topics. Well, not in this episode, we cover tons of ground. I’m talking everything from work ethic to productivity to mentors and coaches to marketing to morning rituals to online programs and more!

Are You Suffering From Shiny Object Syndrome?

By | Blog, Business, Uncategorized | No Comments

‘You will encounter many distractions and many temptations to put your goal aside. But if you hang in there, always following your vision, I have no doubt you will succeed.’

Larry Flynt

Entrepreneurs by nature are ideas people. We are the innovators of world who dare to think big. We see the world through a different lens, see opportunities where other don’t and are willing to take risks and put our plans into action.

While these qualities are gifts this love for new opportunities and innovation can distract us from our goals and ultimately your success.

When a business is brand new we have so much belief in our idea that nothing can distract us. The excitement knowing that our idea is becoming a reality consumes every thought and we charge at it like a red rag to a bull.

However, there comes a time, typically when a business starts to grow and becomes more visible, when new ideas and opportunities present themselves. For the idea loving entrepreneurial mind these new opportunities are like an industrial strength magnet pulling you in their direction.

I call this phenomenon Shiny Object Syndrome.

Teachings from Komang

villa damaiTeachings from Komang

At the time of writing this I’m living on the small Indonesian island of Nusa Lembongan. Google it, its paradise.

The image to the right is our actual villa, insane!

I’m sitting here watching our gardener Komang meticulously sweeping the sand around our villa (that’s right, I said sweeping the sand). I can’t help but notice the attention to detail as he moves slowly, purposefully, ensuring every inch of sand is perfectly smooth before moving onto his next task of removing every wilted leaf from our plants and trees.

The result is a villa that looks as amazing (if not better) as any 5-star resort. Do you put this much effort into every task, even the tasks you don’t enjoy? I know I don’t but after watching Komang I am going to start. Like my dad always said ‘if its worth doing its worth doing properly’.

Avoid PAIN, Structure Your Business Right From The Get Go

‘A successful man is one who can lay a foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him’
David Brinkley

For entrepreneurs, starting a new business is no doubt the most exciting thing you can possibly do. This is certainly the case for me! Coming up with the concept, researching the market, creating the business model, designing the marketing and sales plan, thinking about the limitless potential and strategizing how you’ll achieve success. Oh man, just writing about this gets me all pumped up!

When building a business it’s so easy to get caught up with all the exciting elements and not even think about key fundamentals like the company and financial structure of the business. For most of us just the words structure and financials sends up to sleep, yawn!

Boring as they may be these elements are absolutely essential if you want to avoid a huge amount of pain down the track!
